Conclusion of the Oman International Pharmaceutical Congress and Exhibition

Muscat (UNI/Oman) - The Oman International Pharmaceutical Congress and Exhibition, at the conclusion of its work at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, recommended focusing on the clinical role of pharmacy within the medical team in primary health care institutions, and accrediting the service of pharmacist prescribing medication for chronic diseases in primary health care with the presence of clinical pharmacists proficient in This field is similar to developed countries.

The conference also recommended the establishment of an integrated, multidisciplinary system in managing supply shortages and the need for Gulf cooperation to implement drug safety programmes, and the continuation of digital transformation in the pharmaceutical practice sector, to achieve the goals of Oman Vision 2040, and to begin the actual implementation of the technology evaluation project, and the qualification of pharmacists working in the field of procurement. And supply chains, in addition to discussing the project to establish the Gulf Pharmaceutical Federation in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and obtaining the necessary approvals for that.

The conference, which was organized by the Ministry of Health, represented by the General Directorate of Medical Supply, with local, regional and international participation, carried the slogan “Shaping the future of pharmaceutical services”, guided by the pillars of Oman Vision 2040, the future outlook for health 2050, the sustainable development goals, and the World Health Organization’s work program on the prevention of non-communicable diseases. combating it and the global agreement to move forward towards achieving universal health coverage.

The conference witnessed the attendance of more than (1200) participants from health personnel, including pharmacists, doctors, nurses, and pharmacist assistants from various health institutions in the various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to other participants from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, other international participants, and officials from various advanced international organizations in the field. Pharmaceutical practice.

The conference also witnessed the participation of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the American and Canadian Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP Canada), the International Federation of Pharmacists (FIP), and all pharmacy associations for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in addition to the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) and the National Association of Pharmacists. Primary Care (NAPC).

(95) international, Gulf and local speakers will lecture at the conference, during which (105) working papers on the latest developments in pharmaceutical practice will be discussed, distributed over (14) workshops and two dialogue sessions, in addition to (42) scientific posters prepared by health practitioners and students of colleges of pharmacy.

The conference was accompanied by an exhibition in which many of the most important and largest international companies that manufacture medicines and medical devices, and the leading pharmacies in the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector, participated in it. It showcases the latest products in the field of medicines and provides pharmaceutical information.
