Saudi Arabia welcomes the Security Council's adoption of the resolution condemning in the strongest terms the heinous attacks launched by Iran against the territories of the Gulf states and Jordan.

Riyadh (UNA/SPA) – The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s welcome of the Security Council’s adoption of Resolution 2817, submitted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which condemns in the strongest terms the heinous attacks launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran on the territories of the Gulf States and Jordan, and decides that these acts constitute a violation of international law and a serious threat to international peace and security.
In a statement, it said: “The Kingdom welcomes the contents of the resolution, including the condemnation of the attack on residential areas and the targeting of civilian objects, and the civilian casualties and damage to civilian buildings caused by the attacks, and solidarity with these countries and their people.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted the international support for the resolution and the international condemnations of those brutal Iranian attacks, demanding that they be stopped immediately and unconditionally, and that any provocation or threat to neighboring countries be stopped, including the use of proxies.
The Kingdom added, “We affirm what is stated in the resolution and our full right to take measures to protect our security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity and to deter aggression, as recognized in Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations.”
